LIVING DEATH

The fear of and fascination of death is probably what drives most ideologies and ironically causes many deaths due to radicalism on what it's all about. I think facing death and accepting it as a part our existence is extremely important for us to come to some real appreciation of NOW. At the end of the spectrum, the closest relative to death is life. Embracing this curiosity and breaking my own fear of death has been an ongoing pursuit through my art. Not that I kill to create, but that I am honest about portraying it when it shows itself to me. I portray death not to gross out or to exploit, but to appreciate that being and that being's lasting impression still upon us.

Why the Japanese Tourist?
This concept came to me based on my general observation of seeing tourist with cameras taking shots of the places I called home. I knew they had to see things differently than the way I saw things around here. Whenever I travel, I tend to see things with new eyes. When I shoot photographs, that's what I aspire to do. BACK ALLEY PHOTOGRAPHY

Throughout the day, I find myself taking photography breaks in the trash filled alleyway behind my office. Each time I walk down this same alleyway, it always shows me something different. Even if I am shooting the same object, the gap in time somehow effects the way it exists in that moment. My iPhone becomes my view port into perceiving compositions in entirely new directions each and every time I approach them. It's become a habitual exercise that I have decided to catalog here.
